Snake Valley is threatened with the possibility that it will never be the same again. Southern Nevada Water Authority is planning to pump massive amounts of groundwater from the basin every year, so much that many experts believe that springs will dry up, water dependent plants will die, and eventually animals will be displaced (see the Water Section for more details).
